Tenon wears original brass cap (like on a model S-54). Wing also has 99% original lacquer finish, no cracks or damage. No tone-hole liners (water tubes), though. No wood rot and both sides show no damage, no cracks, no problems.

Sockets are both brass lined (like on Schreiber's S-54 model). Boot joint also has 99 % original lacquer finish, no cracks or damage anywhere. Long joint also has 99% original lacquer finish, no cracks or damage. Bb key and socket ring are nickel plated, no wear to the plating. Bell section has 99% original lacquer finish, no cracks or damage. All pads and corks are new, from our shop in Wichita. Original varnish is very good, nickel plate to the keywork is perfect. The Conn 12R I've posted this morning is a really very clean example. The bassoons were basically Schreiber's 'Meinhardt' models, but with a few added features. Thanks to the low cost of labor in post-war Germany, the decision was made to import bassoons from Schreiber and have Conn's name stamped on the bell. We occasionally see an American Conn bassoon (saw one last week, actually.), but we don't think much of them. Conn made the decision to cease the manufacture of bassoons in the USA. Like the S-54, but 'stripped down' bassoons. In the fifties they wore 'Meinhardt' decals. Schreiber also produced a model that was similar to the S-54, but without tone-hole liners, without brass tenon caps. If you can live with the simple keywork, these can sometimes be good players for small prices. No high D keywork, but with tone-hole liners, brass caps on the tenons. Schreiber's model S-54 was the basic bassoon.the one that we often see posted on EBay.
